It was great to simply step in and feel warm and relaxed. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Mr Nair the chef made some really amazing meals- after a long tiring drive from Leh through fotu la curves and snow fall we wanted a good nights rest and this place was perfect.

We were there in mid-October for only one night on our way to Zanskar and I regret not staying longer. Honestly speaking I was not expecting such a delightful hotel in Kargil. It is a modern building which has been very sympathetically built around some old structures and blends nicely. The employees clearly take pride in their work. The lady at the reception ( apologies I did not get her name) was polite, efficient and prompt. The young gentleman called Daniel showed us around with great enthusiasm and even got us couple of delicious apples. The bunker is a surreal experience which teaches you about the horrors of war. I really enjoyed the tour of the grounds. We were at low season so the hotel was half-full and I'm sure in full season it'd be vibrant and lovely. The decor is very nice and tastefully done. The small garden outside was a lovely place to relax. Sadly no fire pit when we were there. Being a keen tennis player I was really excited to see memorabilia signed by Rog Fed and Novak. And a Pakistani shell !! Rooms are big. Our room had a view towards the mountain. The bed and pillows were firm, I slept well. There was a heating unit in the rooms. Lift was welcome saving me the trouble of getting breathless from taking the stairs. Excellent shower pressure. Staff were universally war, cordial and efficient. We had only one dinner. It was buffet. Being vegetarian I can't comment on the other dishes but generally food was okay, not mind blowing, but not bad also. Plenty of options. At least there was Bhindi for a change. I'm sick of eating paneer all the time ! The breakfast was hearty and filling. My daughter loved the pancakes. Overall and extremely satisfying stay and highly recommended.

The Kargil was able to accommodate us on very short notice. They were a delight, and the room, bed, and bathroom were excellent. We were there at the end of the season, so a limited, but still great menu at the restaurant. Their bunker is a worth a look too.

I wstayed with 8 Swiss guests on 13Sep. 2023 at Hotel The Kargil in Kargil . Every one was impressed with cozy restaurant The Wazwan , hospitable host team of Raju Nair , delicious dishes for dinner and breakfast . All guests were very delighted with the welcoming and charming ambiance , chill and cool atmosphere and unmatched services of friendly staff .

A special retreat nestled between the majestic mountains of Kargil, hotel 'The Kargil' is a cozy, and splendid place to stay with friends and family. The staff is really helpful and respectful, the rooms warm with mountain views, and the bonfire pit in the garden makes the hotel a perfect place to stay in.
